Aloha - Day 5 (Shopping)

We saw some great things when we were in downtown Kona last night but many of the stores were closed.  We just had to go back.  We found some great treasures in the crystal palm tee and pineapple, t-shirts and pearls!  We got a lead on some surf lessons and even managed to loose Steve and Sherry (again :-o)

Later we found a great beach for snorkeling and saw some amazing fish not far out.

It seems that no matter what we do here, we have a great time!

Aloha - Day 4 (Downtown Kona)

We had a bit of a laid back day today - too many late nights and early mornings don't make for a good combo.  Eventually we all got ourselves sorted and made our way to downtown Kona to check out the pier and had a delicious dinner full of seafood and ribs!
Can you believe the size of these trees?
Did someone say ribs?!

Aloha - Day 3 (Spencer Beach)

We heard about this great beach for kids and it is called Spencer Beach (of course)!  We took the road trip to the beach and the boys had their first time ever in sallt water.  It took some getting used to but who could refuse sun, water and boogie boards with snorkels?!

Another stunning sun set
Look who is hanging 10 on our lanai

Aloha - Day 2 (Parade)

We lucked out and were able to catch the Christmas Parade in Kona today.  While we waited for the parade we spent the rest of the day touring around and doing some very important shopping!!

We have also been very impressed with the gorgeous sunsets while here.  You will likely see a few more of these as the days go on.  We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.

Aloha - Day 1

To say we were a little excited but a little groggy was an understatement.  We expected as much so had just planned on getting our bearings and some supplies in on day one.  We have a great room, an amazing view and have already met some really friendly morning coffee folks - Randy and Barbara  from California, who have invited us for happy hour!!
Randy and Barbara shared with us where all the best local places are to eat, swim and snorkel.  They have been a great wealth of information and a real pleasure to get to know!!

We finally made it!!

It was a very long travel day but we made it to our condo at about 10:00 pm Hawaii time (4:00 am our time)  once we got checked in, parked and suitcases into the rooms, we could hear the waves and see the shadows of palm trees just outside of our room.  We finally managed to wind down a few hours later and woke to a glorious view the next morning.

Our amazing view from our condo
The rest of the day was spent shopping for supplies and getting our bearings.  Can't wait to hit the beach and actually get some things booked for the boys to get some of the exciting things off their lists.
