We heard that the cruise ships came in on Wednesday's so we wanted little to do with Kona today. We got off to find the Refuge Centre today. It is said that in the olden days, when a criminal was sentenced to death, they would be put into the water at Hilo (on the other side of the island) and if they could swim their way through the shark infested waters for many miles to Refuge Island, and survive, all would be absolved. It is a National Park that shows how things were done in traditional times. It also is right on the ocean so we were lucky enough to see some incredible wild life.
